Plaited Paper Fruits and Vegetables
Description
All fruits and vegetables from Fernswood are plaited from twisted paper roping. The fruit and vegetables are then varnished with a non-toxic, water based glaze. The glaze helps them to repel dust and keep from fading. Stems and/or leaves are then added to finish the look. These are all original designs and are handmade in Ohio.
To clean, brush with feather duster or paint brush, or use your blow dryer. Do not clean with water as it will loosen the glue with which leaves and stems are attached.
To decorate wreaths or baskets with plaited produce, run 18 gauge or thicker wire through the strands of roping, twisting the wire tightly around the strand with pliers. After inserting the wire through the basket/wreath, cut off excess, leaving approximately one inch of wire to twist back into the wreath or around the basket spoke, to hold the piece in place.
