Title

Palatines to America German Genealogy Society- Researching German-Speaking Ancestry in Europe and Descendants in North America

Description

PALATINES TO AMERICA is a national genealogical society of persons researching German-speaking ancestry, with emphasis on migrations from the Germanic regions of Europe to North America (primarily the United States and Canada). Many of these immigrants were from Germany, but there were also a substantial number from other areas of Europe including Switzerland, Austria, France, Poland, and other countries. Some of these immigrants came to the Americas indirectly, spending time (sometimes several generations) in other places in Europe, including Ireland, Russia and several other countries. The founders of Palatines to America all were descendants of immigrants from the Palatinate (Pfalz), and chose this distinctive name for the group.

The PURPOSE of this society is to promote the study of Germanic immigration to North America, to publish information of general interest, and to provide a means for members to exchange information and share research.

MEMBERSHIP is open to anyone interested in the aims of the society. The membership year runs from October 1 through September 30. Persons joining before July 1 receive all the current membership year's publications and will be asked to renew their membership in the fall. Persons joining after July 1 will become members of the following membership year.
