Description
The Committee of Nationwide Reconciliation has started his mission since 1990, with the begging of the political pluralism, aiming to slacken the hater between the persecuted persons by the communist regime and the communists. After 1990, with the beginning of the transition, the society was disorganized and, in Albania spread the phenomenon of property conflicts and weapon, women and drugs trafficking by inciting the murders for revenge and blood feud, not only in the Northern areas, where has existed the self-government by the Kanun, but also in south. With self-judgment there were unjustly murdered about 3000 Albanians, by preventing the joy and happiness of children and women that are obligated to be isolated by the fear of the enemy. According to the trustable sources, more than 100 thousand houses have still weapons. Until 1998, 2500 families were involved in blood feud conflicts. The killings and the hater within the society increased especially in 1996-1997. In 1997-1998 the missionaries of reconciliation and the activists of the committee were able to avoid totally the civil war among Albanians that was incited by the politics. In 1998-2000 the Committee of Nationwide Reconciliation concentrated its work on the reconciliation of the families that were involved in blood feud. With the pledge of the National Meeting, on 14 June 2001 in Puka, that was organized with the activists of the Committee from all the villages of the northern Albanian, from 2510 isolated families, there were liberated 1134. Until 2002 there remained in isolation and in enmity only 1376 families. In these families, the women bore the brunt of sufferings and efforts to survive. 711 children could not go to school and 1270 men left their homes and moved away from the country t hide. During 2002-2003, with the support of Foreign Affairs Ministry of Royal Norway, the Committee of Nationwide Reconciliation was able to liberate other 652 isolated families, mainly in South and so 550 children could follow the school that they had abandoned before. There are still 160 children that can not go to school from which 73 are in danger for their life and 724 isolated families. In 2003, there was again an invigoration of killings for blood feud, incited by the lack of trust in state and disinformation of the opinion about this phenomenon, by media and different associations.
The main causes of these killings are: The disorganization of the society, the political, economical and spiritual crises and the non-functioning of legal state. Only 7% of killings have as motive the old enmities before 1945, but the others are as a result of tragic developments of new conflicts. This phenomenon was incited especially after the events of 1997 when the population was armed.
The Committee of Nationwide Reconciliation is created with representatives of the reconciliation missions, the most estimated associations and personalities of the social and scientific life of the country, aiming to establish a common and long-term strategy for the prevention of blood feud, reconciliation, cohabitation, equal gender and integration of Albanians in the community of the civilized nations.
