Pagudpud on the Net: Welcome to our electronic portal to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, home to Saud Beach, Kabigan Falls, Patapat, the Blue Lagoon and the online home of Pagudpudenos around the world.
Description
Nothing fancy. Just a website that tells you a little about who we are and from where we came. This website is my small way of giving back to my community, and I hope it will serve as a place we Pagudpudeños — wherever we may be — can come together to share in our hometown. I hope, too, that this website will give our friends and family back in the homeland a chance to share in our lives abroad.
I created this site several months after returning to the United States from my latest trip to Pagudpud. It was my third time back in less than a year. My first trip was in February 1999 — three decades after my parents, younger brother and I, then 4, began new lives in the United States. (The rest of our large family would later join us.)
My first return to the Philippines was with my mother and one of my sisters. Seven months earlier, my father had died in California after a long illness. We returned to the Philippines to, well, bring his spirit home. A few months later, I again returned to Pagudpud, this time to help my mother lead prayers marking the one-year anniversary of my father's death.
