History
Originally formed in 1978 as a subsidiary of a technical agency business in Northwich, Cheshire the company’s main key clients were mainly in the chemical sector.
Following the sale of the agency (Morgan Davis Design Associates) in 1995, a management buy-In of the PROjEN subsidiary was exercised. Over the following years the company diversified into other market as the chemical market declined. At the end of 2002 the company conducted a thorough business review and realigned its products, services, markets and position.
In February 2009 PROjEN expanded its shareholders through a Management Buyout with existing management taking a controlling share. In October 2009, due to increasing employee numbers, PROjEN expanded and moved to new premises in Preston Brook, Cheshire.
Markets
PROjEN have a diverse range of experience in a variety of different market sectors. These include Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, Chemical and Process, General Manufacturing, Food and Drink and Waste and Water Treatment. Due to this diversity the company is able to provide a cross-ferilisation of ideas and applications from one sector to another.
Operations
PROjEN provides a broad range of services with specialist service areas including process, mechanical, electrical, control and instrument engineering.
Another range of services provided are the Business Improvement Products (BIPs) which have been developed. These Business Improvement Products target low cost services which are often ignored by companies who have more pressing demands. However, the impact of these services can be dramatic in the improvement of a company's performance. Key Business Improvement Product areas include CapEx Planning, Project Management Training, Systems and Procedures, Factory Relocation and Reorganisation and Drawing and Documentation Management.
Other specialist areas include offering advice and support regarding legislative compliance for areas such as CDM Support, DSEAR/ATEX, HAZOP Chairing and R22 Replacement.
In 2006 Energy and Environmental Compliance Services were added to their portfolio of services with the formation of a dedicated team working alongside the FREEPOWER Organisation.
Major Clients and Projects
PROjEN have worked with major blue chip companies including GlaxoSmithKline, British Sugar, BakeMark, Greenergy, Airbus, AkzoNobel and SITA.
Recent major projects have included £300k Pharma-Safety Improvement Studies, £2.77m Replacement Filter Drier and £17m Biodiesel Manufacturing Plant projects.
Awards
PROjEN has been accredited with many leading awards, most notably with nine consecutive ROSPA Gold Medals for Health and Safety. The company received the ECI Active award for ‘Contractor of the Year’ in 2003 and ‘Project of the Year’ in 2004, 2006 and 2008. In December 2007 PROjEN secured Carbon Trust Accreditation.
