2. To research and preserve for posterity the baseball and related cultural, political, and economic history of the African Americans from the advent of Black Baseball in the pre Civil War years through the period of the modern Civil Rights Movement.
3. To secure, preserve and make accessible to the general public the primary source and documents and artifacts record of the history of Black Baseball.
4. To provide institutions such as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (NBHOF), the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), Major League Baseball (MLB) and its 29 associated clubs, Negro League Baseball Players Association and related institutions with a vehicle to access accurate historical information about the Negro Leagues.
