Description
Jemez Springs is located in the beautiful mountains of Northern New Mexico and is the Gateway to the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The area is surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest. The Pueblos of Jemez, Santa Ana, and Zia are also nearby. The land ranges from high desert to high mountain property and is beautiful! We are located approximately 1 1/2 hours northwest of the Albuquerque International Airport, 1 1/2 hours due west of Santa Fe, and 33 miles west of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
The area is well known for it's beautiful red rock spectacular canyons (elevation ~5,800 feet), as well as high mountain lands like Redondo Peak at 11,200 feet. Summers can be hot (up to 100 degrees, but virtually no humidity) and winters can have lots of snow, but typical night-time temperatures rarely drop below 20 degrees, again with low, low humidity. The sky is blue; the air is fresh, and the people are friendly.
Deer, elk, bear, mountain lions, raccoons, Samoyeds, and coyotes live in the area. High country lands abound with spruce and aspen trees. As you travel down the valley the vegetation changes from ponderosa pines on down to juniper and pinon trees. The Jemez River flows through the valley and land on the river is very desirable.
