Omniwav Mobile provides routers for portable broadband internet connections. Think DSL that you can carry around with you. The patent pending WavBoard™ is a portable wireless router that maintains a broadband Internet connection even while in a moving vehicle. You can put it in your car, your boat, your R.V., limousine, tractor trailer, or you can just leave it in your house, bring it to a tradeshow or hotel room, or just carry it with you. Omniwav Mobile was founded in July 2004 by a group of Network, Telecom, and RF engineers to develop a wireless router to be used in a moving vehicle. Testing was started in San Diego which at the time was one of only two US cities with 3G cellular broadband EV-DO coverage. After the first product's initial success, further advanced features were added and the second-generation product was born. This second-generation router, the WavBoard™, began shipping in March 2005 and has since been featured in many magazines and newspapers as well as on television and radio shows.
Further updates and enhancements to the WavBoard have allowed it to fit a wide range of applications - from law enforcement to limousines and buses, high-end automobile enthusiasts to weekend boaters and R.V.'ers. An optional GPS receiver allows for nationwide fleet management, with all vehicle locations displayed on area maps. Integrated security protocols enable usage by police, ambulance, and other emergency vehicles. Many disaster relief and recovery efforts require fast internet connections to be brought onsite. The WavBoard™ has options for integrated video servers for police and emergency vehicles as well as high-end security applications. The unit can also be used for inventory tracking or an uplink in the field for remote data collection.
