- Built around C. 1780, The Old Mill was originally part of an old network of warehouses that were known as the “Shambles” in the last century. The first and second floor were used as part of the town brewery. The ground floor and adjacent building “The Forge” were part of the towns blacksmiths and cobblers. The building has been tastefully restored by owners Tom and Mary Carr who, while conserving the old beams and stone walls, managed to include modern facilities without spoiling the character of the old building. The Old Mill is set in a quiet courtyard of stone buildings bedecked with flowers and red wooden windows and doors.
