Description
The first Catholic women religious order of women formed by women of African descent. Their primary mission is the care and education of African American children and to minister to the black Catholic community. They were founded in 1829 in Baltimore, Md. Their foundress, Mother Mary Lange is currently in the process of canonization for sainthood.
