Pontiac, MI, June 13, 2006 - The Honorable Julie A. Nicholson, 52-3 District Court Judge in Rochester, is the 2006 recipient of the Oakland County Bar Association's Distinguished Public Service Award.
The award is presented annually to a member of the Bar Association who "provides exceptional voluntary services to benefit the organization."
Since being elected to the 52-3 District Court in 1996, Judge Nicholson has been actively involved in programs to benefit the community. She developed the Court in School / Critical Life Choices Program which takes her to various schools within her judicial district twice a month for the purpose of conducting actual court proceedings. These sessions include an interactive video presentation on legal issues and consequences of illegal behavior.
