My name is John Clauss, Orie Steele was my maternal grandfather. I was born on Sept. 24, 1964. I was born in Pennsylvania and lived there for 29 years. I currently work as a Biology Teacher in Northern Virginia at Annandale High School, Go Atoms !! I am married to Tara Clauss who is also a teacher. She works in Reston Virginia. We reside in Manassas VA. ( Battle of Bull Run was fought here) with our cat , Junior. I have been riding since I was about six years old. I currently own a 1975 BMW R75/6. I ride both to work and for pleasure. Heck riding to work is a pleasure. I can reduce my drive time to work in half on the bike because I can use the HOV lanes. I have ridden to Laconia, New Hampshire, Vermont and all over the East Coast. Below are some pictures of my bike and my wife and I.
This is a picture taken in the parking lot of the Pentagon for Rolling Thunder 1998. I go every year. My wife is the beautiful woman standing behind the bike. What you can't see in this picture is that the mufflers on the bike have been replaced with megaphones. What a glorious roar.
Here are my two babies together on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The Skyline Drive is a wonderful bit of twisty road snaking along the top of a mountain ridge. Lots of tourist traffic on the weekends best to go on a weekday. This was taken on a chilly Sunday morning early before everyone else got there. Notice the full lowers for the fairing. I put these on in the late fall and remove them in early spring. I ride year round and these really help keep your legs toasty.
