Ninilchik is a small town located on the scenic Kenai Peninsula. The Ninilchik River and Deep Creek are fished strongly when the salmon are running and guided fishing, for salmon and halibut in Cook Inlet, brings in much tourism. The fishing waters around the Kenai Peninsula on Alaska's southern coast are home to some of the biggest fighting fish in the world. Halibut as large as 300 pounds and all types of salmon provide a challenge to hundreds of sport fishermen.
