- As a 7 year old in 1984 I began to develop an interest in collecting cards. Primarily baseball and football cards, but also was open to collecting other cards as well. This was also around the time Garbage Pail Kids were the cool things to collect. For the next seven years I wound up spending every penny I had on these collectible pieces of cardboard. By the early 90's my collection was easily over 20,000 cards. I was proud of my collection and had a lot of valuable cards within it. But by the time I was getting ready to enter high school, my interest in collecting began to decline. I boxed up the collection and stored them off to be found later in life.
