The Northwestern Theological Seminary system of education began in Detroit in 1980 as an educational ministry of Rev. Dr. Howard M. Sarkela and Christian Alliance Ministries. Founded over 26 years ago, our educational ministry provided its first curriculum at the Detroit Christian Guidance Center in the Scripps Mansion on Trumbull Avenue. At the Guidance Center, six instructors taught a college level curriculum of Bible centered instruction to residents of a spiritual growth program, leading to a certificate in Religious Education. I initiated this educational program as Chaplain.
