NORDIC VOICES
Description
The vocal ensemble nordic voices was founded in May 1996, and is one of the latest contributions to the musical life in Norway. The six persons who constitute nordic voices are all young musicians who have graduated from the Norwegian State Academy of Music in the past few years. Their musical background includes church music, composition, choral conducting, singing and teacher training. All the members of the group have pedagogical experience which will give them considerable flexibility when leading seminars. Naturally enough, they are all highly accomplished singers, with experience as soloists as well as members of choirs and smaller ensembles.
Nordic Voices will perform at the SEMF Festival for Early Music in Stockholm in June in a program combining early and modern music, will perform among other works Aurora by Arne Nordheim at the Ultima Festival in Oslo in October and will have a tour in the USA in October. In December the group will again collaborate with The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra.
Nordic Voices performed at Fartein Valenfestivalen in Haugesund for the forth time, and has begun the project Concresence which is a collaboration between Nordic Voices, 6 composers and 3 voice experts covering fields such as microtonal norwegian folk music, overtone- and subharmonicsinging traditions of Tuva and contemporary singing studies to develop new performing techniques and new repertoire.
