Application Software Associates has been producing high-quality lodging management software since it was founded in 1984 by Les Stevens. The first system, called The Reservationist, was installed in about 150 properties over the next few years. It was a complete and professional system, much appreciated by its users.
In the late 80's, ASA made a decision which was, according to the trade press at that time, unique among lodging management system developers. They decided to take everything they had learned from their years in the business, including all the feedback they had received from their users, and start over again, with a clean sheet of paper to develop an entirely new system.
The result was ASA Lodging Management. Over the period of the 1990's, this system has matured and been improved and adjusted to its current state of being. In order to make sure that their system was competitive in all respects to other systems offered, Mr. Stevens took it to the world's foremost authority on lodging accounting and automation in New York City. He presented ASA/LMS to the partners and asked how it compared to the hundreds of systems they had evaluated. Their answer was simple; they said it was one of the best-designed systems they had ever seen.
