NIMBUS Michigan was founded in Grand Rapids as NIMBUS C.C., a leather club for men, in February of 1977. The name of the Club was later changed to NIMBUS GR to reflect the club's location. Subsequent changes to accommodate a broader community were: NIMBUS Grand Rapids, NIMBUS West Michigan and finally NIMBUS Michigan.
