Niabi Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and is located in Coal Valley, Illinois near the Quad City International Airport in Moline . Niabi Zoo welcomes over 250,000 visitors a year. The zoo sits on 55 acres and is home to over 900 animals from all over the world representing 160 species. The animals live in continental themed areas representing Asia, Africa, Australia, and the americas. Niabi features Asian elephants, Reticulated Giraffes, and large cats among its many animal exhibits. Other amenities and attractions include an Endangered Species Carousel which is handicap accessible, a playground, pony rides, picnic areas, two concession stands, a gift shop, the Kohler Discovery Center, and if you would enjoy seeing the zoo by train, then ride the Mel McKay Express, which is a miniature replica of an old steam engine that leaves the station every fifteen minutes.
