The UCD Internet Society was founded in 1995 by Steve Fegan, Niall Murphy, Peter Cox, Fergal Daly, Tadhg O'Higgins and others with the goal of providing full Internet access to all students. Back then, UCD was lagging far behind in provision of 'net access. Access was available only at certain restricted times of day for undergrad students. Email addresses were similarly unavailable. Staff and postgrads could access the Web.
