News Eagle
Description
The News Eagle is a bi-weekly (Wednesday and Saturday) newspaper, serving the lake region of the Pocono Mountains --- Pike and Wayne Counties, in Northeastern Pennsylvania. About two hours from Manhattan, Wayne and Pike Counties are enjoyed the world over by those who also engage in hunting, fishing, ecotourism, golfing, skiing, boating, snowmobiling, and other summer and winter activities. The News Eagle has home offices about a mile from Lake Wallenpaupack, Pennsylvania's largest man-made lake, and 20 miles from historic Milford, one of the nation's oldest communities.
Major communities served by The News Eagle include Honesdale, birthplace of the Stourbridge Lion and the American railroad, and the Hawley/Lake Region Area. The News Eagle also serves the communities of Bushkill, Lord's Valley, Shohola, Lackawaxen, Waymart, Hamlin, Lake Ariel, Greentown, Newfoundland, Tafton, Lakeville, Sterling, Prompton, Westfall, Dingman, Lehman, Canaan, Palmyra, Paupack, Blooming Grove and Bethany.
In addition to Northeastern Pennsylvania natives, The News Eagle's readership is also comprised of commuters and Pocono area second-home owners, in particular from New York City, along with Essex and Sussex Counties in New Jersey, and Orange and Rockland Counties in New York. The readership is rounded out with the areas of Matamoras, adjacent to Port Jervis, home of the renovated Erie turntable, and not far from the I-84 interchange, where New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey borders meet at the Delaware River formed Delaware Water Gap, resulting in an economic and cultural triad enjoyed by millions of vacationers and business persons every year.
