Nativelandz works with various Non profit organizations, building better futures for Indigenous people around the world.
We assist in creating and supporting non-profits and awareness groups.
Nativelandz Started out as just a simple homepage for Sky's past time. It had the basic things every home page had back in 1999. simple images, and graphics, awards, some fun stuff and that was about it.
While building her small homepage, sky noticed something on the internet. There wasnt many places you could go to meet other Natives online. There was absolutely nowhere, where you could network with other natives apart from Yahoo groups and many of them were places of debates, not places of meeting and sharing, and there was very little (Correct) information online regarding Indigenous history, biographies and customs.
Pretty much every "Native" homepage she went to, was full of Fantasy indians, that were linked to shamans and stuff like that.
This really began to disturb sky, she really wanted Nativelandz to be more than just a display of her pride for her race, she wanted it to be a community.
A place where people can get together and discuss things, general talk, network, meet others, have fun, share our pride for our people, learn and educate others at the same time.
So she began to create this community, with the little designing skills she had then. She decided to take several computer courses and become a fully qualified programmer and designer to assist in creating this community.
In the past years, Nativelandz has had a huge community board, with hundreds of members, successful yahoo groups, our own Radio station, and many many awards.
Unfortunately last year, the Nativelandz Domain got taken away (due to expiry and unable to renew in time) so Nativelandz was offline for a year.
Now Nativelandz has put together a group of volunteers where discussions have been taking place, to find out how we can make sky's Dream for Nativelandz a reality.
Nativelandz has only been back online for about 6 months, but already has seen many old and familiar faces come back and many new ones.
We pray and hope that Nativelandz will fullfill its dream of becoming that community for all to learn, share, experience and enjoy.
