Nantahala Bank was founded in 2004 by a group of local investors with a clear mission to serve the banking needs of Macon County and the surrounding areas of Western North Carolina. Under the leadership of President Russell Gale , CEO James VanderWoude and a distinguished board of directors, Nantahala Bank has grown to include three branches : One in Franklin, Hayesville and Murphy. In 2008, Nantahala Bank expanded into Georgia, opening a loan production office in Blairsville.
