Title
Nailsea Town Council
Description
Today Nailsea is a thriving country town which nestles in beautiful North Somerset countryside, just minutes from both the Bristol Channel and the Mendip Hills.
In the 18th and 19th century Nailsea was a substantial producer of glass and gave its name to a particular type of coloured glass which has become highly sought after by collectors around the world. (There is a fine collection of Nailsea Glass on display at Clevedon Court – a National Trust Property about 3 miles from Nailsea).
The glass works eventually closed and for many years Nailsea became a typical rural Somerset village dependent on agriculture and cider making.
