Malahide Yacht Club was established in 1958, initially concentrating on dinghy sailing in the Broadmeadows estuary, later developing into the clinker-built Mermaid class in the lower estuary and then the modern-day cruiser fleet as the benefit of open seas & local marinas began to catch the imagination of our sailors.
The object of the club, as defined in our rules is "the promotion and encouragement of sailing...". This is evidenced today in high levels of on-the-water activity, whether it is juniors in their Optimist or Mirror dinghies, adults in the more demanding Laser, all ages in the excitingly colourful Topaz or the ever growing fleet of cruising and racing yachts. A number of members also enjoy the equal attractions of motor cruising and power-boating.
Membership is open to individual, junior, family and social categories. New member applications can be obtained from the Membership Secretary, at the clubhouse or print off a pdf document from this website. Subscription rates are detailed on the application forms. New members are welcomed and their active involvement in club affairs encouraged. The cruising boats, particularly, invariably have room for additional crew, beginners or otherwise, and are delighted to take new members along. Many of the racing fleet have spare berths for those with some experience.
