A study that showed a cognitive speed improvement on a task quite different from the one practiced would be impressive; improvement on the same task is unimpressive, as it doesn't demonstrate an improvement likely to make a difference in the real world.

  • How the heck do they measure cognitive "efficiency", other than by measuring cognitive speed? They don't say.
