Description
Mural Routes was incorporated in 1994 in order to expand the public art mural project initiated by the Scarborough Arts Council in 1990. It's purpose is to promote and facilitate the creation of public art murals for the benefit of the communities in which they are located. Mural Routes offers communication, guidance and expertise to communities, municipalities and other groups who wish to locate murals in neighbourhoods. Mural Routes is a not-for-profit, chartitable organization dedicated to the promotion of wall art as a public art form by the following methods:
1. To cause to be created or arrange for the creation of public art murals including the commemoration of the unique features of communities in which murals are located and the improvement of the environment in which the murals are located.
2. To inform the public, community groups, government and/or government agencies as to how murals provide a general benefit to communities.
