The goal of the Festival Center is to provide a world-class cultural, educational and historic experience consistent with John Muir's life and legacy in his hometown of Martinez, California.

The Center was established in 2001. It is a partnership of the City of Martinez, the Willows Theatre Company, the John Muir Association, the National Park Service, and the Martinez Historical Society.
