Description
The MSF Religious Order has a rich history that began just over 100 years ago in 1895. MSF was founded by Fr. John Baptist Berthier, M.S. who was and always remained a member of the Missionary Society of La Salette. The missionary ideal and the ideal of the family give MSF their spiritual character. The Lord’s request for laborers (Mathew 9: 35-38) spoke deeply to Fr. Berthier and that is why serving the needs of vocations is central to MSF. Fr. Berthier was called by Christ to establish a Religious Community which has as its primary purpose:
To base community life on the model of the Holy Family, who lived simple and modest lives in faithful response, love and care, to God and the mission of Jesus.
To seek out an encourage vocations, especially the less financially secure and those from the poorer households, wherever they are found.
