Welcome To MSAD 33

Description

MSAD #33 educates 185 students from grades Pre-K to 6 at Dr. Levesque Elementary School and 149 students in grades 7-12 at Wisdom Middle/High School. The District serves the communities of Frenchville and St. Agatha located in the beautiful and picturesque St. John Valley which is in the northern part of Aroostook County in the northernmost section of Maine .

Dr. Levesque Elementary School was named after Dr. Romeo J. Levesque, a family doctor in Frenchville who dedicated his life to caring for the sick in the St. John Valley . The school is now the only elementary school in the District. Dewey School in Frenchville was closed in 1965 and all Frenchville students at Dewey were moved to Bailey School in Upper Frenchville. Bailey School was renamed Dr. Levesque School in 1973. Elementary students residing in St. Agatha have been attending Dr. Levesque Elementary School since the closure of Montfort School in St. Agatha in June 1979.

Wisdom Middle/High School opened in the fall of 1965. The school name was given in honor and gratitude to the Daughters of Wisdom who opened the first public schools and were the first teachers to be hired by the town of St. Agatha in 1905. The Sisters taught in the St. Agatha schools until 1973 when the last nun left.
