Material Resource Recovery ("MRR") began in 1996 when, in conjunction with Union Gas and Enbridge Consumers Gas, it identified an area of concern and took a proactive approach to find a long-term solution to an industry wide problem.
Odorants are mixtures of sulphur-based organic compounds that, by law, are added to natural gas to enable the end user to detect natural gas leaks. Through routine maintenance and upgrading of these odorization systems, equipment contaminated with these materials must be properly disposed or recycled.
As a result of this collaborative effort, MRR established a treatment facility in Cornwall, Ontario, which has since treated odorant contaminated equipment from customers throughout Canada and the United States.
