History
Named for Henry Clay (1777-1852), congressman, senator, and Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams. The name was changed by the New Hampshire State Legislature on May 30, 2003 to Mount Reagan, thus making that the official name for State use. In accordance with U.S. Board on Geographic Names policy, however, this change does not apply to Federal maps and documents. In May 2010, the Board considered a proposal to change the name for Federal use; the proposal was rejected.
