Description
Located 0.6 miles northeast of Donohue Peak, on the border between the Ansel Adams Wilderness and Yosemite National Park.
History
Named in Senate Bill 925 (112th Congress), "Mt. Andrea Lawrence Designation Act of 2011." Named for Andrea Mead Lawrence (1932-2009), the first American alpine skier to win two Olympic gold medals. Ms. Lawrence also served as Mono County Supervisor for 16 years and in 2003 established the Andrea Lawrence Institute for Mountains and Rivers to work for environmental protection, particularly in the eastern Sierra Nevada.
