Back in about 1979 I bought a Bultaco Frontera Mk 9 250, it had been setup for enduros with a big Preston Petty tank, a MX pipe and various suspension mods. I thought it was the bee's knees, I was going to do enduros and cream the competition with this bike - no worries!
After a few frustrating outings with my limited knowledge of how to setup dirt bikes for competition after a series of boring but reliable Hondas, I decided it was all too hard and bought a road bike - a Ducati Darmah. So for years my Frontera stayed at my parent's place, rusting and collecting dust.
