The service, which holds more than 2 terabytes of mirrored resources, is updated frequently. The highly resilient service has no single point of failure, a direct 1 Gbit/s connection onto the SuperJANET network, and provides advanced search and browse functionality.
Funding of the JISC National Mirror Service
The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) has awarded Eduserv Internet, a service of Eduserv Technologies Ltd, a three-year contract to provide an Internet Resources Mirror Service for UK higher and further education institutions. Eduserv received the contract, operable as of 1 August 2004, based on value-for-money considerations and Eduserv's support services and technical expertise.
