The website you are visiting is a project of three British-based organisations: People against Rio Tinto and Subsidiaries (Partizans), Indigenous Peoples Links (PIPlinks), and the Society of St.Columban.The initial funding, to research content and construct the site, came from the Polden Puckham Foundation of Bristol - whose unstinting support we gratefully acknowledge (along side our other funders).
The initial site was designed by Andy Whitmore, who you should contact with any comments or improvements to the site itself. Corrections or suggestions for content can be sent to info@minesandcommunities.org.
As you will discover when browsing our Links page, there are dozens of organisations concerned about the impacts of mineral extraction and processing, providing much valuable information. The main difference between most of these sites and our own is that we are committed exclusively to meeting the needs, and answering the appeals, of mining-affected communities, including workers organisations. You will find many of these groups on our Links page under the "Activists", "Indigenous and Indigenous Solidarity", "Women and Youth", and "Trade Union and Labour" categories.
