Millionairesville was started as a natural outgrowth of the 2005 Millionaire Mastery Challenge. That group came about as people got together for mutual encouragement towards financial success (and specifically, as an experiment to see whether one or more members of such a group could accomplish the feat of becoming a millionaire in a single year!)
It's become evident that while it's definitely possible to become a millionaire in a single year (and there are people who are known to have done it), the more typical course will probably involve multiple years -- even with dedicated, persistent effort and a supportive environment. This is especially true if a person is "starting from scratch."
So the idea of Millionairesville was born: a place where people could exercise all of the power and focus of the one-year challenge, but also participate with others on an ongoing basis -- for as many years as it takes to reach the goal of financial independence.
