Middlewich Community Church
Description
Middlewich Community Church, originally known as Middlewich Pentecostal Church was established back in April 1981 by Ron Hickland, under the umbrella of AOG Home Missions. Its first Pastor was Steve Kemp who served from August 1981 to 1993. After Steve Kemp moved to Crewe AOG, Jim and Jackie Bowler (from Carmel Christian Centre, Denton) oversaw the church from 1994-96 on a part-time basis as they pastored their own church in Manchester.
April 1996 saw the fellowship appoint its current pastor: David Moore on a part-time basis while still at Regents Theological College, becoming full-time in May 1997. During the first years of his leadership David and the fellowship began a journey that would radically alter the vision, direction and structure of the church to create the church we all enjoy today.
As a major part of David's vision for the church focused on the youth it was no surprise that the Microchips Project was birthed out of this vision in November 1999. This vision would see the church establish a dedicated youth and community centre containing a cyber cafe, youth lounge, church offices, and conference facility. For the first time in its history the church had a visible and tangible presence within the town of Middlewich when the Centre opened on Thursday 9th May 2002.
