Description
When I was growing up, my extended family would help my parents with errands and chores. Whatever needed to be done, someone in the family had time to do it.
But times have changed. Families are spread out, meaning grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are not always around to help. In many families, both spouses are working outside the home to make ends meet. Almost everyone is too busy to accomplish their own needs, leaving no time to help others.
In both my personal and professional life, I’ve always been drawn to helping others. As a twelve-year teacher’s aide in special education, I helped both the students and the teacher. From many fond memories, one stands out that concerns me: Parents, teachers and staff alike were all too busy. Most recently, my time in retail found the same concern. I’d wait on harried customers who complained of having too much to do in too little time.
