The Meriden Federation of Teachers is a Professional Union Representing Educators within the Meriden, Connecticut Public Schools
Description
The MFT was formed in 1963 by teachers who felt that a separate organization for teachers only would be better than having administrators in the unit. The MFT became the bargaining agent for the teachers in 1975 and, the next year, had to lead a strike of teachers in order to get a contract. We then organized unions for the paraprofessionals, secretaries, custodians, and outreach workers.
