COMPANY HISTORY
The company began in 1948 as Merlin Machine a small engine sales and repair business. Merlin continued in that line of business until 1972 when it was decided to expand the business into the small compressor market. A separate division was formed called Merlin Compressed Air Systems. This division grew to become the major revenue generator of Merlin Machine.
The division was sold in 1991 for internal reasons and the new owners incorporated it as Merlin Compressed Air Ltd. The new business continued to work out of the original Merlin store front on Sydney St. in Kitchener until 1993. Merlin Compressed Air then moved to newer and larger facilities at the current location 125 McBrine Place in Kitchener. Under the new owners the company continued to grow adding more staff and increasing floor space in that location.
In 2000 Merlin Compressed Air Ltd., looking to expand its market share, purchased a small compressor service company in Hamilton named Hargon Compressed Air Service. This purchase gave Merlin access to that market as well as a gateway to the Niagara Peninsula.
