Description
Visit MEATandTHREE.com to locate a meat and three restaurant in over 20 states in the United States of America.
A "meat and three" serves what is commonly called one of the following: southern comfort food, daily lunch special, blue plate special, lunch plate, etc. These restaurants are widely known throughout the Southern states, focusing on the type of food that southern Moms and Grandmas have made for years and years. The food is basically just down-home cooking that is enjoyed by all types of people from all kinds of backgrounds. On any given day, you might find a variety of patrons visiting any given meat and three: office workers, firemen, politicians, preachers, blue-collar workers, men, women, children, families, mechanics, CEOs, etc.
MEATandTHREE.com's site navigation is geographically oriented, allowing visitors to quickly find meat and threes in a particular state and city by clicking on a state's quick link on the left side, or on the link to the USA page. Viewers can then navigate to individual meat and three pages.
The site's owner, Phil Roberson, started a blog in late 2006 with the goal being a place to tell the stories and history of individual meat and threes. This HistoryBlog features articles containing information about Phil's visits to various meat and threes as well as periodic notations of new restaurants that have been added to the site, closed meat and threes, and a mention of random meat and threes in random locations.
Any Meat and Three is invited to list its contact information for free (basic listing) by emailing or calling (615) 860-8481 with their details.
Historical Information
MEATandTHREE.com was born in late 2003 as a hobby site - just a place to list all of the Middle Tennessee meat and threes that Phil and his friends and family had been visiting over the years. After ongoing research revealed a broader market, and the serendipitous sale of Phil's employer in early 2006 provided more time to concentrate on the site's development, it became clear that MEATandTHREE.com was a site whose time had come. Late 2006 saw a strong increase in the number of meat and three restaurants added to the site. Current plans include major growth in the number of listings as well as a major site revision for 2007.
The site's structure has been loosely modeled after Phil's previous employer, Bed & Breakfast Inns ONLINE, one of the top Bed and Breakfast directories on the web. BBOnline was founded in 1995 by Phil's neighbor, Randy Fought, who had grown the company to include more than 5200 member B&Bs and Country Inns throughout North American and the Caribbean. MEATandTHREE.com owes a debt of gratitude to Randy Fought for the opportunity to assist him in managing, operating and growing BBOnline up through the point of its sale to Los Angeles-based Internet Brands.
