McFarland Candies

Description

A long-standing tradition of excellence is enjoyed by McFarland Candies. Edgar and Jewelle McFarland ventured into the candy business in 1944, learning recipes and experimenting in making their own Easter candies. In the late 1950's they opened a retail store on Main Street in Frostburg, In the early 1970's the store was moved to the Palace Theater building where it remained until November 1997.

In November of 1997, both the manufacturing and retail operations were moved to 22 Broadway into a completely refurbished bright new candy store. Windows and sliding doors were installed giving their customers access to watch the candy being made. This turned out to be an excellent move as groups were soon requesting the opportunity to come by for a demonstration and to watch the candy being prepared. Scout troups, elementary school classes, and tour-bus groups are among those now afforded the opportunity to witness the old art of hand making of home-made candies by local choclatiers.

While still catering to Frostburg, Cumberland, and the surrounding communities, McFarland Candies has expanded with candies now available at various locations throughout the tri-state area. Additionally, a rapidly growing portion of business is mail-order. With 24 hour access via a toll free number, fax number, and an Internet site, world-wide shipments are made daily.
