- My name is Sgt. Brian E. McElaney. I'm a combat correspondent (reporter/photographer) stationed in Africa by the Red Sea with CJTF-HOA, an unconventional anti-terrorism unit that operates throughout the Horn of Africa as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Our mission is unique in that we are not firing bullets, but are using unconventional methods to combat terrorism in the Horn of Africa. The vast majority of what we do here involves working with citizens, governments and security forces in the region to help improve economic opportunity, stability and security. By doing this, we create an environment that makes it very difficult for transnational terrorists to move and operate in the region.
