Title
Manitoba Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council Inc.
Description
Since the Manitoba Aboriginal Sport & Recreation Council’s (MASRC) incorporation in 1994, this organization has grown through the introduction of new programs, new staff, and stronger partnerships in its efforts to service the sport and recreational needs of Aboriginal people in Manitoba.
Based out of sub-office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the MASRC continues to strive for the goals and objectives of its founders. Over the years, those goals and objectives were reached through the innovative programming of former and current staff and working through the challenges faced by any new, emerging organization.
From the Head Office in the Sandy Bay First Nation, which is the home of one of the original Executive Co-Chairs; Cecil Desjarlais, the MASRC set up the Winnipeg sub-office with Sport Manitoba at 200 Main St. then expanded its operations to a Northern Manitoba sub-office in Thompson. The MASRC employs an Executive Director, Office Manager, Finance Manager, Team Manitoba (NAIG) Manager, and Sport Development Officers.
