- Doug Martindale was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. His artistic abilities were first realized at an early age when he won several National Allied Scholastic Art Awards for several of his works while still a senior in high school. Determined to make art his life long career, Martindale moved to Seattle and enrolled in Cornish College of the Arts in September 1981, where he studied under an accomplished Northwest illustrator, John Miller. It was under Miller’s careful supervision that he learned the importance of attention to fine detail in his work.
