Title
Martha Schindler Connors -- writing & editing
Description
I've been writing about health, fitness, nutrition and other subjects for more than 17 years, the last eight of which as a freelancer. Before striking out on my own, I was a senior editor at Natural Health magazine in Boston (Brookline Village, Mass., to be more precise) — and before that, I was senior editor at Baby Talk magazine in New York City. And way back when, I was an editor at a few trade magazines in Chicago. I've also got a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. (For the complete story, please check out my resume.)
As a journalist, I've covered everything from the savings and loan crisis to baby poop. As a freelancer, I've written for some of the big magazines — Self, Shape and Prevention — as well as smaller ones like Walking, American Health and Runner's World. I have served as editor of Boston magazine’s Home & Garden and as the beauty editor for Cooking Light magazine. In addition, I've taught various magazine writing classes at Emerson University in Boston and have worked as a freelance/conrtact editor on a variety of proposals and other types of corporate communications, both internal and external.
As a human being, I'm a runner (seven marathons and counting) who's shamelessly attached to my dogs — both rescued (read: non-hunting) field-bred English Pointers. This past year, I moved to Evergreen, Colorado, got married, and added the name "Connors" to my driver's license. For more info on any of these subjects, check out my "pet projects" (just click on the bone below).
