State Senator Mark Norris

Description

Senator Mark Norris was first elected to the State Senate in 2000 as a Republican from rural Shelby County. He represents District 32 which includes Dyer, Lauderdale, Tipton and Shelby County. He was re-elected in 2004 and is the first Republican in state history elected to represent Dyer County.

Norris serves as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee and as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also serves on the Veterans Affairs, Workers’ Compensation, and Corrections Oversight Committees. He is a member of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). He was elected Vice-Chairman of the Southern Legislative Conference’s Economic Development, Transportation and Cultural Affairs Committee in 2005.

Norris is has practiced law for 26 years. He is a 1980 graduate of the University of Denver College of Law.
