Founder David Mannes believed that music education should be open to all who have a desire to learn. Mannes College of Music remains committed to this mission through its Extension and Preparatory Divisions which serve a diverse population of students from children and adult beginners to young virtuosi and working professionals.
The Mannes faculty includes artists, scholars, and educators of international stature including active professionals from all areas of the music world - concert artists, chamber musicians, successful free-lancers, established composers, and members of such leading organizations as the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, New York City Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The Techniques of Music and humanities faculties include highly regarded scholars, musicologists, and educators.
