The Moray Association for Mental Health Co. Ltd has been in existence as a Scottish charity since 1990/91. The members formed the Association to provide a social and supportive function to people in Moray with mental health problems. Many of the members have personal experience of mental illness, either as sufferers or as family members or friends of someone with an illness.
In 1992 Moray Health Services and the Grampian Regional Council Social Work Department who were working together to create and implement a Mental Health Strategy for Moray. MAMH Co.Ltd was awarded a contract to manage two new community based projects that would be developed to meet the needs of people with mental health problems living in Moray.
In April 1993, when the application process was complete, a Specific Mental Illness Grant was awarded to M.A.M.H.Co. Ltd. For the development of the Day Services and Employment Services. In addition, Finance was awarded for the set up of the Stay at Home Service. In order to manage and run these projects, The Moray Association for Mental Health Co. LTD, a charitable company limited by guarantee, was incorporated on 1st April 1993.
